The holiday season is approaching and you don’t know which country you want to visit? If we have not already convinced you in previous articles on our blog, you should know that Greece is the perfect destination, whether you are a person looking for relaxation and peace, or you are a person with a spirit of adventure.
If you choose to go to Greece for the first time, sunscreen and a sun hat are not enough. We offer you „information baggage” to help you during your first visit to Greece.
1. Cash!
Among the most important things on your holiday list is money, for sure. In today’s modern times, the credit card is an indispensable accessory that allows us to pay for all the goods we need. On trips, however, cash will be useful because many restaurants and cafes only accept such payments. In addition, as in any country, the stalls full of various souvenirs will attract your attention, and there you can pay for the earrings of your choice only with cash.
2. Hospitality
Get ready to meet friendly people in Greece! If you got lost in the streets (be they physical streets or just the ones on Google Maps), if you run out of battery on your phone when eating at a restaurant, the Greeks will be happy to help you! Which brings us to the next piece of advice…
3. Learn a few basic words
If you do not know how to get to the dream beach or if you want to find a good restaurant, you need to ask experts. And who knows the secrets of Greece better than the locals? Learn the basic words of the Greek language and you will know how to deal with such situations. Our courses can help you with this – you will learn everything you need to know about both Greek and your visit to Greece (for example tips and places to visit).
4. If you love coffee, this is your place!
If you fall into the category of people who love coffee and need this magical drink in the early hours of the morning, you will be reassured to know that the Greeks also love coffee! They always go out for coffee with friends, and the morning hours are not the only ones they prefer. It is common for them to serve coffee after dinner. We must mention that, although coffee is a special ingredient in this habit, socialization is also the main element. Coffee time actually means a nice time spent with family or friends, full of discussion and laughter.
5. Don’t take too much luggage!
Especially if you choose to visit the country in a summer month… Many tourists regret the huge trollers taken with them and would have preferred to choose a backpack instead. You should do the same for them, especially if you don’t want to carry a heavy troller on you, on narrow streets, and on numerous stairs.
6. The Greeks eat slowly!
We know that you will be conquered by Greek food and you will want to try as many dishes as possible. You will notice that, in restaurants, the waiters serve you the ordered food, and then they will let you enjoy it, as much as you want. The Greeks like to enjoy their food, enjoying every sip, and after they are done with it, serving a glass of wine with a pleasant conversation is what follows on their list.

7. Dress appropriately
Beaches and city walks require a casual outfit, with steamy dresses and blouses being perfect for such activities. But if you want to visit religious places such as churches, monasteries, but also sacred sites, you must have with you outfits that cover your legs, arms, and plexus area. Thus, you will show respect for religion and traditions.
We hope these tips will help you on your next trip to the country with a well-known history, with clear and blue waters and hospitable people. We invite you to our Greek language courses where you will learn more about this ancient language, but still very much spoken nowadays, but also curiosities about your next holiday destination.
